How To Make Cleaning Vinegar At Home: An All Natural Solution

Cleaning vinegars are a bright and natural alternative to mainstream cleaners. These slowly infused vinegars are wonderful for all natural cleaning and are a low waste and toxin free alternative for cleaning your home.

Try making a simple toxin free cleaning alternative with our step-by-step solution below.

Making infused vinegar at home:

Upcycle and clean your jar of choice.

Choose the scent you would like to infuse. Scents can be chosen from natural sources including citrus peels and herbs. Natural scents that work well in cleaning vinegars include orange, lemon, rosemary, and basil.

Place a few of the chosen peels and/or herbs in a glass jar.

Pour white vinegar until an inch below a standard sized glass jar rim, and seal the glass jar with a lid.

Place glass jar in a dark space for around four weeks. Set a reminder on your calendar to check back so that you do not forget about your DIY cleaning vinegar project!

Use a 1:1 ratio of the final product of your infused vinegar to purified or distilled water. Store solution in a reusable glass spray bottle for a simple all purpose cleaner! Just remember to store in a cool dark place when not in use.

Sit back and enjoy being one step closer to a toxin free home!

Tip: Storing final cleaning vinegar solution in an amber colored glass bottle may help the solution last longer!

Words of wisdom for those new to cleaning vinegars:

This solution is not to be used on granite or marble as it may etch the surface due to acidic properties.

Keep away from screens of any kind. Vinegar can ruin touchscreens and damage anti-glare properties.

Keep away from cheap stainless steel.

And keep away from real wood surfaces and furniture.
